call waiting
While talking on the phone, you will have the ability to answer a second call when you hear a short tone indicating another person is trying to reach you. Call Waiting allows you to put the first party on hold while you answer your second call. Call Waiting can also be temporarily deactivated so you can speak uninterrupted during important calls or use your Dial-up Internet connection without being disconnected.
To Use Call Waiting:
- You will hear a short beep indicating you have another call.
- To answer the second call, depress switchhook.
- To return to the original caller, depress switchhook again.
To Cancel Call Waiting Before Making a Call:
- Dial *70.
- Listen for three short beeps and a dial tone.
- Hang up.
To Cancel Call Waiting During a Call:
- Depress switchhook.
- Listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone.
- Dial *70.
- Listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone.
- Depress switchhook and be reconnected to existing call.
