email tutorial for
     outlook 2003

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  1. An e-mail account from FairPoint Communications. Don't have one? If you recieve FairPoint High-Speed Internet, you're entitled to up to 5 e-mail accounts with that connection. If you don't have an e-mail account, or would like to set up another, send an e-mail to netops275@fairpoint.com and include "NEW ADDRESS" in the subject.
  2. Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft Outlook is a component of the Microsoft Office Suite. This tutorial is for Microsoft Outlook 2003. Other versions may be similar.
STEP 1:
In Outlook, click on "Tools" and then on "E-Mail Accounts...".

STEP 2:
Make sure "Add a new e-mail account" is checked, and click "Next".

STEP 3:
On this screen, it will give you the option to choose which type of e-mail server you'll be using. Click "POP3" and then "Next".

STEP 4:
On this form, you'll need to fill out your information. The incoming mail server should be set to "pop3.uniteone.net" and the outgoing mail server should be set to "smtp.uniteone.net". Your user name needs to be the first part of your e-mail address (i.e., if your e-mail address was "news@uniteone.net", then your user name would be "news"). The password needs to be the one we supplied for you. Once you've finished, click on the "More Settings..." button.

STEP 5:
Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab. You'll need to check the first checkmark box, which is labeled "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". Once finished, click "OK".

From the screen shown in step 4, click "Next" and then click "Finish".

You're all set! To check for any mail, click the Send/Receive button at the top of the screen, or if you want to type an e-mail, click on the "New" button.
